If you are a high school graduate or have earned a General Education Degree (GED) and then attended a college or university, you are considered a transfer student.

Former, degree-seeking �������� students are not considered transfer students. If you are interested in returning to �������� and have not been a student at �������� for more than two consecutive semesters, please complete the traditional application process. If you are interested in returning after being gone for only one semester, please complete the . Transfer admission is done on a rolling basis. This means that once your file is complete and we have received all required materials, your file will be reviewed and you will be notified. Applying for admission is the best way for you to get the admissions process started.

�������� does not set a limit on the number of transfer credits accepted; however, not all transferred credits may meet graduation requirements. In addition, ��������’s residency requirements may stipulate that you take additional courses at ��������. Please refer to the academic bulletin for complete details. 

A student transferring from another regionally accredited college or university receives credit for course work elsewhere when the following conditions are met: an official transcript is received directly from the other institution and credits transferred have a grade of C- (1.67) or above.

Most schools post accreditation information on their website and on the back of their official transcripts. You can also search for your school on the .

Recognized regional accrediting organizations include:

• Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges
• Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
• Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
• New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC-CIHE) Commission on Institutions of Higher Education
• Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
• WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC)

Your �������� GPA will be calculated using transferred courses and courses taken at ��������. 

Credits that have been transferred can be viewed via your unofficial �������� transcript. �������� students may log in to Portal, click on Self-Service, go to “Grades” tab, and click on unofficial transcript.

When a transfer course is equivalent to a �������� course, the transfer course is given the �������� course prefix and number but the original title and credit hours are retained. 

In the event a lower division transfer course is comparable to an upper division �������� course, lower division credit will be granted. In some cases, this course may apply to a degree requirement if requested by academic petition. 

Once you begin classes at ��������, an academic plan will be created for you and will help guide you in remaining graduation requirements. You will be able to access this from the “Register” tab in Self-Service.

No. However, some general education classes are required for specific degrees and those classes will be required. In addition, if the second degree requirements do not contain a religion course, students will be required to take one. Please see the academic bulletin for specifics.

There is one exception. Students who have already completed an international baccalaureate degree must still complete the general education requirements for ��������.

General Education Religion requirements for students transferring from institutions other than Seventh-day Adventist universities are reduced to:

• Sophomores: 9 semester credits
• Juniors: 6 semester credits
• Seniors: 3 semester credits

When a transfer course is considered to not be equivalent to a �������� course but will count for elective credit, it is assigned a discipline prefix (when applicable) along with a 1XX or 3XX course number. The “1” indicates it is a lower division course and the “3” indicates it is an upper division course.  

Quarter credits convert to semester credits on a 2/3 conversion formula. For example, a 4 quarter credit class would transfer as 2.67 semester credits. For specific formula details, contact transfer@uau.edu or explore the chart below for the most common conversions.

For AP – if we receive official AP scores of 3 or higher, we generally grant credit. For more information, see and search for CollegeBoard in our transfer credit equivalency tool.

International transfer credits require a review process that begins with an official evaluation from a certified company such as  or . We recommend you start the evaluation process early. 

First, verify that your official transcripts have been received and evaluated by the Records Office. You can determine this by viewing your unofficial transcript on Self-Service. 

Second, does the course pre-requisite require an ACT score? If so, have your scores been given to ��������?

If the course is on your transcript and your ACT scores are on file, but you still cannot register for the class, please contact the Records Office at 402.486.2529.
